Milan, July 22, 2026 – Milan’s exhibition season opens at Palazzo Reale with Dalí and Fashion, the major exhibition running from September 24, 2026 to January 31, 2027, dedicated for the first time to Salvador Dalí’s influence on the world of fashion and to the decisive role fashion played in shaping his creative universe. An international exhibition project opening during Milan Fashion Week 2026, it brings together masterpieces, garments, photographs, jewellery, films and documents from some of the world’s most important collections and museum institutions.

The exhibition is promoted by the Municipality of Milan – Culture, organised and produced by Palazzo Reale, MondoMostre and Civita Mostre e Musei, in collaboration with the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí, under the patronage of the Embassy of Spain in Italy and the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana, with Vogue Italia as media partner and StreetVox as Official OOH Partner.

The exhibition is made possible thanks to Enel, Main Partner, and Fineco, Premium Partner, with technical sponsorship from Bonaveri and Novacolor, and Vivaticket as Official Ticketing Partner.

The exhibition has been made possible through collaboration with the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí, the leading scientific institution dedicated to preserving, studying and promoting the artist’s work, founded by Dalí himself. It is presented under the scientific direction of Montse Aguer, Director of the Dalí Museums, and curated by Laura Bartolomé, Deputy Director of Research and Projects, and Judith Clark, fashion historian and professor at the University of the Arts London, with contributions from senior curators Lucia Moni and Bea Crespo, also of the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí.

The exhibition brings together more than 200 works and documents—including paintings, drawings, photographs, garments, films, jewellery and objects—most of them drawn from the world’s three largest collections of Dalí’s work: the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí in Figueres, The Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg, Florida, and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. These are complemented by materials from the historic archives of the fashion houses Schiaparelli, Chanel, Dior and Rabanne.

Almost forty years after the landmark exhibition Surrealism and Fashion at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, Dalí and Fashion offers a new interpretation of the relationship between Surrealism and material culture, revealing the complexity of an artist who did not simply influence fashion, but anticipated some of its most pressing contemporary concerns: the construction of identity, the spectacularisation of the image, the dialogue between art and consumption, and the power of creativity to reinvent reality. The exhibition also explores his involvement with the fashion system and his extraordinary ability to anticipate and harness its dynamics, from shop windows and advertising campaigns to the pages and covers of Vogue.

More than an exhibition about fashion, Dalí and Fashion is an exploration of modernity through the eyes of one of its most radical interpreters.

Dalí and Fashion invites visitors to discover a truly multidisciplinary artist, capable of crossing disciplines and boundaries while continually redefining the relationship between art and life. The exhibition celebrates Dalí’s visionary power and his extraordinary relevance within today’s creative landscape.

The exhibition is accompanied by a prestigious volume published by Skira Editore.
