The title echoes the phrasing of Another Brick in the Wall, not as a decorative reference, but as a way of invoking the song’s subversive charge. The same critical stance that the song directed towards established systems finds a possible counterpart here within the field of drawing.

At the core of the project is an exploration of drawing as an autonomous and potentially disruptive practice in contemporary art, freed from its traditionally subordinate role as a preparatory stage, sketch, or preliminary study for a finished work. Here, drawing prepares nothing: it operates on its own terms, challenging the economy of completion and finality that continues to shape the hierarchy of artistic media.

Bringing together more than forty artists throughout the museum, Another Draw on the Wall marks ARCOS’s first large-scale survey dedicated to contemporary drawing on a national level. Curated by Francesco Creta, in dialogue with the research developed by Mondoromulo arte contemporanea, the exhibition creates an encounter between the specificity of a particular territory and artistic practices that may be geographically distant from it, yet engage with many of the same questions.

The exhibition does not stem from a single curatorial direction, but from the convergence of three distinct trajectories: Mondoromulo, with its ongoing work of research, selection and scouting; the gallery’s collaboration with Dario Molinaro, who brings with him a network of artists developed over time through his own practice and experience; and ARCOS, through Francesco Creta’s curatorial perspective, which introduces artists already established within the regional and local art scene.

The result is not simply a collection of names, but a dialogue across generations — emerging, mid-career and established artists — brought together on equal terms. It is precisely from this exchange that the project draws its energy, while opening up the possibility of a renewed community around contemporary art.

Another Draw on the Wall also proposes a specific model of collaboration between a public museum and an independent art space. ARCOS provides the institutional framework and space for an ongoing process of research, exchange and network-building. Together, the museum and the gallery create an opportunity for a community to emerge — one that extends beyond the exhibition opening itself.
